ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Saturday, severe thunderstorms damaged two cabins at Chestnut Ridge Park and Campground, with one likely a complete loss, and also broke windows and damaged the roof at Klaer Lodge—there were no injuries.  WDTV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Morgantown Mayor Joe Abu Ghannam said that Jamie Miller, the first woman to serve as city manager, will begin work on June 23 with a salary of $175,000 a year (she is winding down her role in Paris, Kentucky) and is expected to tackle city priorities such as downtown development, homelessness and litigation with first responders. Abu Ghannam added that the search firm helped draw a strong pool of qualified candidates to meet the city's evolving needs.  MetroNews

SPORTS NEWS

  • Morgantown sports teams had a busy weekend as MHS baseball split its games—a 6-0 loss to Washington and an 8-4 win over Huntington—to finish 12-8, while UHS baseball won 9-8 and 6-3 to extend its win streak to four and will host Bridgeport Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. Other teams earned wins in baseball, softball, girls lacrosse and tennis as they now prepare for Monday and later contests.  The Dominion Post
