  • Classic Cutz Barbershop is boosting local spirit at WVU by offering quality grooming services & community events that bring students and neighbors together. The shop continues to enhance a welcoming atmosphere in Morgantown.  WDTV
  • Classic Cutz has provided WVU students and athletes fresh haircuts for 15 years, as barbers Bilal Adams and William Brown brought a NYC style to Morgantown + built close ties with local sports figures.  WDTV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Faculty, staff and students can visit the WVU Bookstore on Tuesday, Dec. 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for a holiday shopping event offering discounted merchandise (WVU gear), free gift wrapping and a hot chocolate station to help with gift selections.  West Virginia University
  • The 12 four-year colleges saw a slight enrollment increase to 57,017 students this fall with seven institutions reporting gains, including Marshall University, which now enrolls 12,955 students. Freshman enrollment is up 4.4 percent statewide and two-year schools saw modest growth.  MetroNews

HEALTH NEWS

  • Physicians at United Hospital Center advise residents to wash hands for 20 seconds (the time it takes to sing Happy Birthday twice) during National Handwashing Awareness Month to help prevent illness. Dr. Houda Mouradian stressed that using soap and water is best after eating, using the restroom, or touching public surfaces.  WDTV
  • The Rural Health Transformation application is now online after feedback from over 17,000 residents, offering $100 million a year for five years to boost rural care. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services will announce a final decision by the end of this month.  West Virginia Public Broadcasting

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Local officials and ARJ LLC discussed plans to build 104 townhomes near the airport on a 12.92-acre site at Hartman Run and Everlasting Lane + the project remains under review after addressing noise guidelines and roadway improvements discussed at a recent planning session.  The Dominion Post

SPORTS NEWS

  • WVU will face Ohio State at 8 p.m. Saturday at Rocket Arena in Cleveland— a big nonconference test that may help the Mountaineers prove they can handle top offensive talent like Bruce Thornton while relying on their strong defense.  The Dominion Post
  • Morgantown High sophomore quarterback Maddox Twigg earned Class AAAA All-State honors on Saturday after a state championship run, with local defensive standout Ze’von Shipman also among the selections. Coaches and sports writers recognized these players as part of the top team in the region.  The Dominion Post
  • University High won 94-61 against Parkersburg on Baker's Ridge as senior Eli Karpinski led with 30 points; the Hawks will host Fort Hill Md. on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.  The Dominion Post
  • After current running backs coach Larry Porter was eyed by Auburn following a challenging season, WVU coach Rich Rodriguez will seek a new hire and may promote assistant Noel Devine (a seasoned Mountaineer) or bring in an experienced candidate from Marshall, Texas, Notre Dame, or Michigan before Jan. 2.  The Dominion Post
