  • The professional choir Maestri Vocale will perform its holiday concert 'Light of the World: An Evening of Handel's Messiah and Other Sacred Selections' with free admission on Dec. 21 and Dec. 22 in Morgantown, featuring degreed musicians celebrating the season.  WV News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Energy experts warn that rising data center demand projecting 60 gigawatts of load by 2030 while only 6 to 12 gigawatts of new supply come online could lead to higher electricity rates — the June 2026 auction may decide future pricing.  West Virginia Public Broadcasting

EDUCATION NEWS

  • United High School in Harrison County was recognized by the WVSDT LEA/YRC Collaborative for its strong partnership with WVSDT; the school helped nearly 100 students graduate + over 185 complete the Truancy Diversion Program in the 2024-2025 school year.  WV News
  • This Saturday, the West Virginia Botanic Garden holds an animal tracking workshop from 2 to 4 p.m. Participants will learn to spot animal tracks during an indoor lesson and a guided walk among the garden’s natural features.  Morgantown Magazine

HEALTH NEWS

  • Today, the U.S. Senate did not advance two healthcare bills as expanded ACA subsidies set to expire Dec. 31 remain in limbo. About 22 million people rely on these benefits while 50,000 to 60,000 West Virginians may face higher costs, and Capito (R-W.Va.) backed a health savings plan.  MetroNews
  • Highmark WV has committed $1 million to expand its Healthy Neighborhood program, which uses pre-funded cards to help residents buy nutritious food in 45 counties. The initiative aims to ease food insecurity across the region.  WV News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Morgantown girls basketball team won a 70-31 game over University on Baker’s Ridge on Wednesday. Junior Carper Messerly led with 17 points as the Mohigans secured their third win and will host Southern on Saturday, Dec. 18.  The Dominion Post
  • Larry Porter, WVU's running backs coach (for less than a year), was hired by Auburn earlier in the season to join head coach Alex Golesh's staff; his departure has prompted WVU to seek a replacement as key players like Jahiem White and Diore Hubbard plan transfers.  The Dominion Post
  • Chance Moore returned for WVU after sitting out five games this season, averaging 12 points and nearly six rebounds per game. Coach Ross Hodge said his quick physical play has energized the Mountaineers as they prepare to face Ohio State in Cleveland on Saturday.  The Dominion Post
  • WVU’s first official quarterback Khalil Wilkins plans to enter the transfer portal when it opens Jan. 2 after playing limited games this season with 185 passing yards and 243 rushing yards amid injuries that shifted the starting role.  The Dominion Post
