  • Local organizers are hosting a fundraiser to honor a longtime 911 operator who has served the community for many years — supporters are invited to attend the event and contribute to show appreciation for his service.  WDTV

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The West Virginia DNR expects a lower buck harvest this season because plentiful acorns are keeping deer near food sources and a recent EHD outbreak led some hunters to avoid impacted areas—bag limits remain unchanged. The two-week season runs until December 7th.  MetroNews

SPORTS NEWS

  • Xavier hit 16 3-pointers on Sunday to tie the record for most made against West Virginia and beat the Mountaineers 78-68 at TD Arena—WVU head coach Ross Hodge said his team allowed Xavier to find a comfortable rhythm on offense, leaving them the only team in the tournament without a win as they prepare to host Mercyhurst next Sunday.  The Dominion Post
  • The West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission released the football semifinal schedule with matches set for Friday, November 28 and Saturday, November 29—key games include a Class AAAA matchup between No. 4 Jefferson and No. 1 Morgantown at 7 p.m. on November 29.  MetroNews
  • After wins over Houston and Colorado raised bowl hopes, WVU lost to Arizona State 25 to 23 on a late fourth-quarter field goal which ended their postseason chances—now the team is set to face Texas Tech at home Saturday at noon as they try to keep the contest competitive.  The Dominion Post
