  • Little Paris Cafe began its soft opening at 456 High Street—serving French crepes, waffles, and locally roasted coffee—to give Morgantown a new taste experience.   • Information Technology Services advises departments to buy new computers soon to avoid expected price increases from high AI demand for key parts — Dell and other partners report that shortages in memory and solid state drives are pushing up costs. EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Teaching and Learning Center and the Office of the Provost have issued a call for proposals for the 2026 Scholarly Teaching Conference across three WVU campuses from May 13 to 14. Faculty, instructors, staff, and students must submit proposals by Jan 31 — registration will open in March with updates shared via the conference website and ENews.  West Virginia University
  • The Office of Undergraduate Research is seeking judges for its fall Undergraduate Research Symposium that will take place from 1-5 p.m. on Dec. 6 at the Mountainlair — interested faculty, experienced staff and postdoctoral or graduate students can apply, with graduate judges earning service hours via iServe.  West Virginia University
  • North Marion High School Band will perform in the Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade in Waikiki, Hawaii on December 7 to honor veterans with teams from Greenbrier East and Hannan High School. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Patrick Morrisey recently announced that West Virginia secured over $4 billion in private energy investments, including more than $1 billion in DOE low-interest loans to refurbish six coal-fired power plants—an effort questioned by environmental advocates who say the loans will raise energy costs. The West Virginia Chapter of Sierra Club warned that shifting these costs to local ratepayers could lead to higher bills for families.  West Virginia Public Broadcasting

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Morrisey and the WVDNR announced that buck firearms season will start on Monday, November 24th and run until December 7th in most counties, with hunters needing valid licenses and required stamps to participate. The season also features a Big Buck Photo Contest (photos due by January 9th) where winners can earn prizes like a lifetime hunting license or a State Park cabin stay.  WDTV

SPORTS NEWS

  • WVU men’s basketball will face Clemson at 6:30 p.m. today at TD Arena in Charleston — their first road trip of the season as coach Ross Hodge looks to test his team’s defense while adding guard Chance Moore to boost size and rebounding.  The Dominion Post
  • Mark Kellogg earned his 500th win Thursday when the 23rd ranked WVU women’s basketball team beat Appalachian State 80 to 51 at Hope Coliseum—10,067 fans saw the milestone game that set the stage for the upcoming Bahamas tournament.   • West Virginia’s women’s soccer team ended its season on penalty kicks as the Hoyas won 4-3 after a 1-1 tie at Shaw Field Thursday evening. The Hoyas will host Florida State on Sunday & aim for a national quarterfinal spot.  MetroNews
