- ➤ Manufacturers in West Virginia will need 2,700 full-time workers in 2026 to fill roles such as production operators, laborers, quality assurance staff, maintenance technicians, machinists, and welders. A Marshall University survey shows that 7,000 workers will be needed over the next three years—with strong demand in Huntington and Charleston metro areas and new training programs launched to help meet the gap. - ➤ More than 300 teams of students participated in the 36th Annual Pumpkin Drop on November 4 by designing structures to protect pumpkins dropped from 11 stories off the WVU Engineering Sciences Building—an event that tested their creative building skills. West Virginia University

- ➤ West Virginia State Parks officials launched the West FURginia State Park Ranger program— a pet-friendly initiative that lets visitors pick up a checklist at any state park nature center, complete five activities with their dogs, and return it for an official certificate plus free dog tag— to encourage outdoor exploration with pets. - ➤ Morgantown city council approved a TIF to support East End Village, a new development district where future apartments, retail, and grocery stores are planned. Demolition is underway+ above ground construction will begin in 2026 with the project set to finish in 3 to 5 years. WDTV
- ➤ The West Virginia Public Employees Insurance Agency will hold public hearings to review proposed changes for Plan Year 2027. The Morgantown event will be held at 6 p.m. Nov. 17 in the Mountainlair Gold Ballroom—registration begins at 5:30 p.m. and a virtual hearing is available on Nov. 20. West Virginia University
- ➤ Governor Patrick Morrisey declared November as Wild Game Meat Donation Month to honor West Virginia's hunting tradition—hunters may donate their game through the Hunters Helping the Hungry program to aid families facing food insecurity. WDTV

- ➤ Researchers at WVU’s School of Public Health are teaming up with county health departments and community organizations—using a $6.7 million federal grant to expand drug prevention programs in rural areas. The grant will support fresh community-based efforts aimed at helping prevent youth drug use before it starts. WV News

- ➤ West Virginia men's basketball won 70 to 54 against Mount St. Mary's at the Hope Coliseum in Ross Hodge's debut as head coach yesterday. - ➤ On Monday night, Morgantown High’s volleyball team won 3-2 over Musselman to earn its 13th straight trip to the state tournament in Charleston—even after star hitter Leah Greeny left with an injury in the third set.
