- ➤ Met Theatre will feature Dracula—a feminist revenge fantasy that reinvents the predator tale—as a darkly comic drama from Oct. 23 to Oct. 26. Tickets will cost $20 and are available online or at the theatre. West Virginia University
- ➤ A centuries-old Appalachian hymn singing tradition continues to soothe souls in our region with heartfelt acapella melodies + community members keep the practice alive to honor a deep heritage. WV News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The West Virginia Governor’s Highway Safety Program + NHTSA will promote teen driver safety from Oct. 19th to 25th, urging parents to talk with teens about speeding, distracted driving and seat belt use to lower fatal crashes among 15- to 20-year-olds. The campaign, part of National Teen Driver Safety Week, highlights the need to reduce risky driving behaviors in the state. WV News

- ➤ Experts Bethany Barone Gibbs, Elizabeth Claydon and Ranjita Misra share five ways to boost health in West Virginia. They advise changes in policies—like more community programs and better preventive care—to help the state get healthier. West Virginia University
- ➤ Laura Jones from Milan Puskar Health Right led VIP guests on a tour of the new behavioral health center at 10 Scott Avenue early Thursday morning—she said the clinic will open after the first of next year as staff worked through delays and extra costs. The $2.3 million project received funding from the city, the Hazel Ruby McQuain Charitable Trust, the Milan Puskar Foundation and the Monongalia County Commission. The Dominion Post

Maddox Twigg led the Mohigans with 201 passing yards, four touchdowns, and 80 rushing yards while the defense held Parkersburg South to 35 yards in the first half+ the win improved their record to 7-1. - ➤ WVU center Harlan Obioha enters his final season with high expectations after losing weight from 350 to about 265 pounds and improving his conditioning. Coach Ross Hodge expects him to play longer minutes and lead his team, with Obioha crediting daily support from strength coach Jason Martinez — his progress may boost WVU when it hosts Kansas on Jan. 10.
