CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ West Virginia University’s Woodburn Hall will shine with holiday lights this season after more than a decade without display—bringing festive tradition back to campus and Morgantown. WV News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Michael Meyer, a famous writer and WVU's writer in residence for the 2025 through 2026 school year, will read his work at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20, in Colson Hall room 130 (he will also work with eight graduate students and one undergraduate during his week-long stay). West Virginia University
- ➤ Students are invited to learn about a transatlantic master’s degree program in international history and security studies offered jointly by WVU and Civitas University. The session will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 16 in Chitwood Hall—Room 101. West Virginia University
- ➤ On Monday, WVU President Michael Benson spoke about boosting student enrollment and joining the Association of American Universities as part of his Welcome Home Tour that visited 28 counties. He also confirmed Woodburn Hall will get holiday lighting on Dec. 2 and proposed closing University Avenue for a pedestrian mall—an idea meant to ease campus traffic—while working with staff to support local students. - ➤ Gov. Patrick Morrisey said West Virginia will continue paying to keep Harpers Ferry National Historical Park and New River Gorge National River open amid the ongoing federal shutdown.
