- ➤ Morgantown Tool Outreach will launch a tool lending program later this fall to let residents and local groups borrow 500 tools for home and community projects—funded with $50,000 from the city’s American Rescue Plan allocation. Anyone aged 18 or older with a Morgantown address can sign up online or in person at City Hall and use the program with rules on late fees and returns. The Dominion Post
- ➤ Ronald McDonald House in Morgantown reopened on Thursday with expanded facilities—marking 35 years of service to local families. The milestone event celebrated decades of care and will help the house continue to support its community. WV News

- ➤ A new Korean BBQ & Hot Pot restaurant will open at Suncrest Towne Centre in Morgantown in Spring 2026. The restaurant will let diners grill small cuts of meat and cook fresh ingredients in a simmering broth. WDTV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ University High School celebrated its 100th anniversary at a parade on Wednesday in downtown Morgantown as students, alumni and community members gathered to honor the school’s legacy since its founding in 1925—its celebration continued with a home football game against Connellsville that kicked off at 7 p.m. on the same evening. - ➤ Chatter & Chalk held its ribbon cutting last Thursday as a new center combining a Pre-K academy with speech and occupational therapy services. Dr. Tori Gilbert, a former WVU professor, said local business and the Small Business Association helped bring the center to life to address a gap in early education for children. WDTV

- ➤ The state is increasing seatbelt enforcement this month to reduce fatal crashes during a holiday weekend known for high accident rates, officials said. In 2023, West Virginia had 260 crash fatalities with 40% involving unbuckled occupants+ drivers caught without a seatbelt will face a $24 fine. WDTV
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ West Virginia University today announced it will add 140 athletic scholarships for the 2026-27 season, including 16 for football and 124 for Olympic sports, following a board-approved resolution to boost its athletic programs for Big 12 competition. WDTV
- ➤ Morgantown High School’s top football team will face the eighth-ranked Bulldogs in Martinsburg Friday night—both teams stress that the game will decide playoff seeding as they focus solely on the field.
