  • Appalachian Power reflected on its long recovery just over a year after Hurricane Helene struck by replacing 1,485 utility poles, 1,140 cross arms, and 471 transformers while crews worked one million hours and repaired 214 miles of transmission lines in West Virginia — a major effort to rebuild the damaged grid.  MetroNews

  • Doctors now have clear guidelines for respiratory vaccines after the state released its annual recommendations—these guidelines advise the seasonal flu vaccine for everyone older than six months, RSV shots for infants and older adults, and COVID-19 vaccination after consulting a doctor as officials work to address rising vaccine distrust.  MetroNews
  • West Virginia health systems are watching changes to the H-1B visa program that may add a $100,000 fee per worker — a new measure that could challenge rural hospitals as they recruit medical professionals.
