EDUCATION NEWS

  • At a press conference Friday, WVU President Michael Benson, Hope Gas President and CEO Morgan O’Brien and Athletics Director Wren Baker announced that the WVU Coliseum was renamed Hope Coliseum as part of a deal that generated a new revenue stream. The iconic facility will soon get planned upgrades including blue and gold exterior lighting — a change to refresh the space and honor local heritage.  The Daily Athenaeum
  • WVU’s Purinton House, built in 1904 and now home to the Office of Global Affairs, is receiving a $1.3 million restoration to repair its front porch and portico—work that will finish on Nov. 21. The project is funded by a grant from the governor’s office and guided by the West Virginia State Historic Preservation Office.  The Dominion Post

  • Gov. Patrick Morrisey said he will push for the MidAtlantic Resiliency Link project to give West Virginia real benefits instead of treating the state as just a transit route—he insists the project must support local energy needs as it advances.  WV News
