- ➤ Registered nurse Keyla Quiñones runs The Greatful Bread, a Morgantown microbakery that uses a fermented starter to make sourdough breads and Puerto Rican pastries like quesitos. She plans to launch fall items such as bagels and cinnamon rolls and sells her treats at local markets and WVU football games — offering a healthier alternative to preservative-filled breads. - ➤ Pinnacle Pet Health is breaking ground on an expanded 6,700 sq ft clinic across from Morgantown Mall that will add more exam rooms and kennel space for better pet care — the $2.6 million project funded by Huntington Bank is expected to finish by May. WDTV

- ➤ Austin Grant, assistant director of operations at the Mountainlair, was honored with the August Non-Classified Staff Salute—his work builds strong partnerships among campus services and departments. - ➤ WVU experts warn college students about the dangers of Black Out Rage Gallons — large alcohol containers used at tailgates and Backyard Brawl celebrations. - ➤ Karen Diaz will retire as dean of WVU Libraries in the spring when she ends her nearly 40-year career in higher education and academic libraries. - ➤ WVU Army and Air Force ROTC cadets will hold a memorial vigil today at the Downtown Library from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will begin a Memorial Stair Climb at the Coliseum at 6 a.m. using a ceremonial taps at 8:46 a.m. to honor first responders and victims of September 11. West Virginia University
- ➤ Morgantown Municipal Airport has reached 10,000 enplanements this year and qualifies for increased federal funding from $150,000 to $1 million as part of the FAA Airport Improvement Program. MGW benefited from SkyWest’s 50-seat regional jet and new Chicago routes and will explore a new terminal—if it reaches 20,000 enplanements—in the future. MetroNews

- ➤ OLLI at WVU will host the 19th annual Irving Goodman Aging Lecture when Dr. Marc Haut—director of the Memory Health Clinic at the WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute—will deliver his talk 'Current Treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease' on Zoom at 1 p.m. Sept.17. West Virginia University
- ➤ After a young football player's fatal head injury last year, local experts and officials formed the Marion County Initiative to use new helmet technology and real-time feedback to lower head trauma risk in sports. The program also offers baseline testing for soccer, basketball and volleyball and partners with West Virginia University Medicine, Marion County Schools and Riddell to improve student safety. - ➤ WVU coach Rich Rodriguez announced that running back Jahiem White and wide receiver Jaden Bray are out for the season due to injuries—Clay Ash and Cyncir Bowers will see bigger roles as the team looks to replace lost production. - ➤ The Morgantown High School volleyball team beat University High School by sweeping the match 3 to 0 with set scores of 25 to 7, 25 to 14 and 25 to 19—despite an early injury that prompted a change in rotations. - ➤ West Virginia’s offense did not move forward in the second half—freshman quarterback Nicco Marchiol struggled while backup Jaylen Henderson failed to spark any significant plays. - ➤ Pitt quarterback Eli Holstein—9–3 after transferring from Alabama—threw a 48–yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Raphael Williams in his four–touchdown game, and his play will challenge WVU's defense in Week 3.
