The Appalachian American Indians of West Virginia held their first pow-wow since 2020 over the weekend at Camp Mountaineer in Morgantown.

Officials in Morgantown plan to expand shelter beds and review affordable housing needs as Councilman Mark Downs noted a recent count found 150 people experiencing homelessness with fewer than 50 beds available plus proposals include repurposing the Hazel’s House of Hope site and forming new partnerships with county commissioners for housing projects.
