- ➤ After months of work, the KOA Holiday Campground at Mylan Park will expand its RV sites, cabins, and tent pads this Labor Day weekend to offer more camping options with added amenities such as walking trails and dog parks—while a 48,000 square-foot ice pavilion with seating for 1,200 spectators opens Tuesday, with a grand opening set for Sept. 8. - ➤ A Monongalia County jury convicted Jonathan Ramirez after a 30-minute deliberation for the brutal January 2024 murder of Jacob Lough in Morgantown — Ramirez stabbed Lough over 200 times, robbed his belongings, and was arrested near the WVU campus. MetroNews
- ➤ A Morgantown man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, accident involving death, fleeing and reckless driving in connection with a fatal hit-and-run that struck Paula Silvis at the intersection of West Church and Morgantown Streets in Fairchance on Wednesday and was later taken into custody after fleeing the scene; he is held on a $100,000 bond with a preliminary hearing set for Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. (first responders attempted lifesaving measures, but Silvis later died at a local hospital). - ➤ Former West Virginia State Delegate and HD Media President Doug Skaff Jr. is honored with a memorial scholarship set for WVU business students after his death in June.
