- ➤ This summer, students spent nearly 5,000 hours volunteering and logged 690 service submissions at hospitals, schools, food pantries, and centers across the region—helping organizations like WVU Medicine, Christian Help, Compass Women’s Center, and the Community Food Pantry in Morgantown. - ➤ Frame & Flask, a new event coordination shop in Morgantown, offers event photography, bartending, and private chef services for intimate gatherings. - ➤ The Monongalia Arts Center will host its Bootleggers Ball fundraiser on August 23 at 107 High Street downtown, featuring live jazz, Charleston dancing, and Prohibition-era cocktails to support community arts programming. - ➤ Today, the Douglas J. Skaff Jr. Mountaineer Spirit Scholarship will be awarded to a WVU undergraduate enrolled in a Chambers College program as a tribute to the late business leader and alumnus. Students active in Mountaineer Maniacs or the Student Government Association (SGA) will receive preference for the award established by his family to honor his legacy. WDTV
- ➤ West Virginia University will hold Welcome Week from Aug. 14 to 22 to help new and returning students connect, explore campus and volunteer in community projects. Students will move into residence halls starting Aug. 14, and events include Late Night at the Rec on Aug. 15, WVUp All Night on Aug. 16 and Sunday Night Lights at Milan Puskar Stadium on Aug. 17 — with classes beginning Aug. 20. - ➤ Faculty and staff are invited to sign up for WVU Welcome Week volunteer opportunities from Aug 14 to Aug 22. Volunteers will wear the official Welcome Week T-shirt—helping greet students and provide campus directions to create a welcoming atmosphere. West Virginia University

- ➤ WVU offensive lineman Kimo Makane’ole had his bio corrected from 198 to 298 and said he is eager to return to the offensive line.
