- ➤ Mountaineer Food Bank received a $50,000 grant from Feeding America as part of Enterprise Mobility’s Fill Your Tank Program— the funding is set to help expand food services to those in need. WV News

- ➤ Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office released its Wanted Wednesday report on August 6th listing fugitives charged with domestic battery, drug possession, DUI and identity theft and warned residents not to approach them—call 911 if spotted. WDTV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Melody Harshman was honored in the August Staff Council Classified Staff Showcase for nearly 10 years of work in student housing services—she handles student conduct cases, budget tasks, and training for new staff—and she originally comes from Hilton, New York. West Virginia University
- ➤ The REACH Student Success Center was named the winner of the 2025 West Virginia Higher Education Action and Impact Award by the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission for its innovative programs that help underserved students. Director Regan Swan said the center offers support with success coaches, workshops, a free text line and the REACH Lounge (providing workspaces, snacks and stress relief with a therapy dog) to meet each student's needs. - ➤ West Virginia may lose more than $100 million in federal funding to boost residential solar power as the EPA mulls potential cuts. State officials warn the move could hinder efforts to expand clean energy in the area. WV News
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Expectant and new moms are invited to join a fully remote study testing an app for infant tummy time if their baby was born at or after 37 weeks, is 4 to 6 weeks old, and lives within 15 miles of Ruby Memorial Hospital. Babies will wear a sensor-equipped onesie for two days at one, two and four months while moms complete surveys and earn gift cards — up to $100 total for full participation. West Virginia University
