GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Morgantown is using federal funds from ARPA and CDBG to revitalize lower Greenmont by creating a neighborhood park along Deckers Creek—along with plans to remove blight and secure affordable housing, though $2 million in congressional earmarked money may not arrive soon. The projects aim to improve a small area between Brockway Avenue and Deckers Creek using both current and redirected unspent funds.  The Dominion Post
  • A public meeting was held Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. in the University High School Auditorium to discuss NextEra Energy’s plan for a 500,000-volt transmission line that would cross local farmland including Juliet Marlier’s family property, held since 1959. Residents said the planned 200-foot right-of-way and extra buffer—needed for the towers—could lower property values and harm water quality as the project seeks to meet rising power demands.  MetroNews
