  • Morgantown’s new thrift store Old School opened at 360 High Street to offer vintage clothing and accessories with a focus on WVU styles—owners Shelby Cavender and Tyler Jefferies will host their third Sip and Thrift event on August 16 at The Co-Op on Pleasant Street.  Morgantown Magazine
  • Stone Tower Brews in Morgantown serves specialty coffee, craft beer, and chef-made meals in a repurposed, sunlit space that features indoor seating and an outdoor patio—manager Andrea Blankenship said the store roasts Honduran green beans on site and regularly hosts themed events and art displays for the local community.  Morgantown Magazine

EDUCATION NEWS

  • WVU's new president is hitting the road today on an 18-county welcome home tour + he plans to meet local communities to share his vision for the university.  WV News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Morgantown city officials are planning streetscape improvements on Chestnut and Spruce streets with work that will include new sidewalks, ADA upgrades, lighting and landscaping—projects building on past updates to High, Pleasant and Walnut streets. The city received a $180,000 TAP Grant for Chestnut and is seeking $1.55 million and $450,000 grants plus additional funds for a bike and walking trail at the Municipal Airport—efforts that will modernize local infrastructure.  The Dominion Post

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Thursday night, Kane Williams hit his first career walk-off double for Post 2 — scoring Parker Jeffries from second to win 5—4 over Parkersburg Post 15 in the state tournament; Post 2 will face Charleston Post 65 at 7 p.m. Friday.  The Dominion Post
  • The biggest game on West Virginia's schedule is the Backyard Brawl against Pitt, the third game of the season with tickets starting at $260. Pitt's coach Pat Narduzzi said he wants the rivalry every year — but scheduling and conference rules mean the game will return only in 2029.  The Dominion Post
