BUSINESS NEWS

  • WVU Hospitality Group is launching updated catering today for faculty, staff, students and the community at campuses in Morgantown, Beckley and Keyser. The new program offers tiered menus, flexible packages and options for on-site, off-site and to-go events — from small meetings to large conferences — with linens, supplies and event essentials.  West Virginia University

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Twenty students from WVU and Marshall have been awarded the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship to help cover up to $5,000 in study abroad and internship costs. Morgantown student Elijah Riggleman—history major—is set to travel to the Czech Republic as the program supports undergraduates receiving Pell Grant funding.  West Virginia Public Broadcasting
  • Eighteen WVU students have received the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship to study abroad this summer—funded by the U.S. State Department to remove financial barriers. The award supports their travel to countries such as Japan, Spain, and France to gain international education experience.  WVU Today
  • Kelli Barnette, a candidate for vice president of Enrollment Management, will hold meetings and a public forum from 1:15–2:30 p.m. today in Reynolds Hall, Room 2001 or via Zoom. The search committee will announce additional candidates’ campus visits on July 21 and July 22.  West Virginia University

HEALTH NEWS

  • WVU Cancer Institute and WVU Medicine operate LUCAS— a mobile lung cancer screening unit that brings testing services to local residents and expands access to early detection.  West Virginia University

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Tuesday night, Morgantown Post 2 beat Buckhannon Post 7 by 5-2 in their postseason opener under first-year head coach Jacob Goodknight. The team will face Bridgeport Post 68 in the Area 2 tournament game (7:00 p.m. Wednesday) as they advance in the playoffs.  The Dominion Post
  • Five West Virginia University baseball players were picked on day two of the MLB Draft. Logan Sauve went in the 7th round to the Athletics while Kyle West, Robby Porco, Griffin Kirn, and Skylar King were picked by the Yankees, Dodgers, Athletics, and Red Sox respectively, which lifts the Mountaineers' all-time total to 117 players.  West Virginia University
