EDUCATION NEWS

  • The WVU Bookstore's First Day Complete program launched for Fall 2025 to offer undergraduates set textbook prices — with full-time students charged $345 and part-timers $161 added to their accounts, as emails with pick-up or delivery instructions were sent yesterday. Faculty are reminded to update their course materials on the Adoption Insight Portal to provide accurate textbook cost estimates.  West Virginia University

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The U.S. Senate will vote Tuesday on a measure that could cut federal funding for public broadcasting after Sept. 30 if it passes—Sen. Shelley Moore Capito said she is working to modify the proposal since local stations help keep the community informed.  West Virginia Public Broadcasting
  • Sen. Shelley Moore Capito said the West Virginia Department of Transportation will receive a $24,837,048 grant—through the U.S. Department of Transportation BUILD program—to fund a statewide truck parking project.  WV News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Former Preston High pitcher Brady McNew—who played his freshman season at Penn State Fayette—committed to pitch for Potomac State University this fall. He said his decision was influenced by the program’s strong coaching and the opportunity to reunite with local teammates.  The Dominion Post
  • Rich Rodriguez praised a new revenue-sharing ruling and the creation of Gold & Blue Enterprise by AD Wren Baker, saying the changes have improved guardrails for college sports amid ongoing issues with the transfer portal. He urged athletic directors and Congress to take further steps as college athletics continue to adjust to new rules.  The Dominion Post
  • J.J. Quinerly, a former standout at WVU, is showing her talent with the Dallas Wings by averaging 16.5 points and 5.3 assists since joining the team on June 28. She earned her starting spot—after injuries and overseas commitments cut the roster—and will play on national TV at 1 p.m. Sunday against the Indiana Fever.  The Dominion Post
