ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A tractor trailer crashed and burned on I-79 northbound at the Goshen Road bridge construction project in southern Monongalia County today—authorities closed the highway for cleanup and no injuries were reported.  WV News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The WVU Office of Sustainability and Parking Management partnered with Greenspot to install electric vehicle charging stations in the upper level parking garages at Mountainlair—lot ST-2 and Mountaineer Station—lot ST-3, which include six spots with four dual-use and two EV-only spaces. Drivers will pay $0.39 per kilowatt-hour as well as applicable short-term parking fees if they do not have a permit.  West Virginia University

  • The WVU Police Department has shared fireworks safety tips as the Fourth of July nears—urging residents to enjoy professional displays or, if lighting fireworks on their own, to keep them outdoors, away from people and buildings, and follow safe handling steps.  West Virginia University

  • Tiffany Strange earned her master’s degree in nutritional and food science in May and shifted her career from pastry chef to join the WVU Medicine Medical and Surgical Weight-Loss Center—her new role shows a nontraditional path to success.  West Virginia University
  • The West Virginia Center for Resilient Communities and the WVU Family Nutrition Program have launched the fourth update of WV FoodLink amid concerns over federal nutrition assistance cuts. The update helps West Virginians access essential food and nutrition resources—especially as proposed SNAP-Ed cuts may strain community programs.  West Virginia University
