- ➤ The 20th annual Blue and Gold Mine Sale diverted nearly 25 tons of goods from landfills — the highest single-year total in its history, and raised over $25,000 for United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties. The student move-out sale was held on May 17 at Milan Puskar Stadium as part of the university's effort to boost campus waste diversion to 50%. West Virginia University

- ➤ A representative for Raising Cane’s confirmed a new restaurant will open on University Town Centre Drive in Morgantown+ the popular chicken chain plans to begin serving in early December. WDTV

- ➤ WVU undergraduate Corinne Hazel discovered a mystery fungus with ties to LSD while working in Daniel Panaccione’s lab on June 23—researchers plan to examine the fungus further for its properties. West Virginia University
- ➤ The Student Life Hall of Fame, started in 1997, honors former employees for their contributions to student life while the Outstanding Achievement Award recognizes an alum who has positively influenced students—nominations are due by July 18. West Virginia University
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Researchers in the Department of Physical Therapy are recruiting new moms for a remote study to track infant tummy time using a soft sensor-equipped onesie at one, two and four months old. Eligible babies—born at or after 37 weeks, now 4 to 6 weeks old and living within 15 miles of Ruby Memorial Hospital—will have study materials delivered to their home and receive a $25 gift card at each time point. - ➤ Sancomb led Wheeling Central to a state championship and earned West Virginia's top player award while helping his baseball team win a title and scoring 48 points at the Hope Gas Morgantown Shootout—he holds offers from seven Division I schools and plans fall visits before deciding his future.
