CRIME NEWS

  • A 51-year-old Albright woman, Julia Fowler, is accused of stealing jewelry valued at about $20,000 from an elderly family she cared for and selling it for about $7,000 at a Westover pawn shop — investigators said she took 26 pieces and previously exploited other clients over the last ten years, and she now faces multiple counts with a $100,000 bond at North Central Regional Jail.  MetroNews

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Storms on Friday dropped more than two inches of rain, causing creeks to overflow and flooding that damaged roads and basements across several areas. FirstEnergy reported 4,706 outages in Mon, Marion, Preston and Taylor counties—crews are now assessing damage and working to restore service.  The Dominion Post

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Senator Capito announced May 13 that over 100 Morgantown NIOSH workers returned to work after layoffs meant to improve government efficiency — though only a third of the employees have been reinstated and some divisions remain inactive.
