- ➤ Police have identified a suspect in a Bon Air Apartments shooting that sent one person to the hospital Saturday—officials say the investigation continues. WV News
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Officials at New River Gorge National Park and Preserve expect record visitor numbers this summer after last summer saw over 1.7 million visitors with a 6% increase, and park managers plan to add Ranger’s Choice programs, guided hikes, and outdoor dramas + study environmental impacts and set carrying limits as needed. These steps aim to balance increased recreation with protecting the park’s natural resources. MetroNews
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Morgantown transportation officials recommended roundabouts at downtown intersections at Beechurst and 8th, Stewart, Protzman, Van Gilder and Hoffman after a $500,000 study on vehicle and pedestrian movements over two years was completed. The study also proposes removing vehicle traffic from Grumbein Island by closing University Avenue between College and Beechurst and reassigning Willey Street as a local road when a new US 119 is built — officials will soon ask for public input on these changes.
