  • WVU Extension is featured in the national APLU timeline celebrating America’s 250th anniversary, which highlights contributions in research, expanded educational access and strong communities.  West Virginia University
  • MTEC’s 162 career technical education completers celebrated Wednesday at the Hazel and J.W. Ruby Community Center at Mylan Park as Principal Greg Dausch detailed hands-on training (from auto repair to culinary arts) for graduates like Heidi Sweet and Aden Walsh, who are ready to start their careers.  The Dominion Post

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A study from Environment America finds West Virginia’s renewable power generation nearly doubled over the past decade, with solar production leaping from 50 to 350 gigawatt hours in the last two years & enough capacity to power over 216,000 homes statewide.  West Virginia Public Broadcasting

SPORTS NEWS

  • West Virginia won 4 to 2 on Thursday when Maxx Yehl allowed two runs and Gavin Kelly hit his 13th home run. The win sends WVU into a conference semifinal at 11 p.m. (EST) tonight at Surprise Stadium.  MetroNews
  • West Virginia beat Kansas State 4-2 in the Big 12 quarterfinal after Maxx Yehl pitched six scoreless innings in Surprise, Arizona on Thursday night. WVU now awaits the winner of the Arizona State vs. Cincinnati game at 11 p.m. today on ESPN+.  The Dominion Post
  • Local officials awarded $12M for a new multi-sports complex that will host local sports and community events; construction is scheduled to begin soon after final planning approvals at the designated site.  WDTV
  • Wren Baker from WVU updated plans for the West Tower Project at the stadium, saying the new press box will begin construction after this season and open before 2028 while losing only a few seats & temporary suites will ensure fans keep their revenue during work.  The Dominion Post
  • Morgantown High School's baseball team won an 11-3 regional game against Spring Mills on Wednesday night at Dale Miller Field+a five-run first inning clinched their third straight state tournament berth+. Coach Pat Sherald praised star pitcher Jackson Bredeson+for his key relief+, noting the team will prepare for tune-up games.  The Dominion Post
