EDUCATION NEWS

  • Federal cuts have hurt school meals across West Virginia and many schools are now looking for ways to keep kids fed with healthier options—actress Jennifer Garner has discussed school-business partnerships to promote healthy eating on the West Virginia Week podcast.  West Virginia Public Broadcasting

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Monongalia County Commissioner Sean Sikora said the broadband projects have already shown progress with work seen on the Halleck Road area and plans to use 223.5 miles of fiber to connect 2,550 addresses. The commission spent about $8 million of ARPA funds—leveraging over $20 million from Comcast and Frontier—to upgrade service while meeting a spending deadline of Dec. 31, 2026.  The Dominion Post
  • District 4 Manager Earl Gaskins said the Green Bag Road roundabout project is delayed because eight parcels are still needed and the court is busy with eminent domain cases — he added that work on the Morgantown Industrial Park bridge will start early next year while resurface work on Holland Avenue is set for the next fiscal year.  The Dominion Post

  • MHS starting pitcher Maddox Boggs led his team to a three nil shutout against University on Friday evening by throwing a complete game in 81 pitches & advancing the Mohigans to the Class AAAA Region I championship series where they will face top-seeded Wheeling Park.  The Dominion Post
  • Steve Sabins said the Mountaineers lost key games recently, including a 7 to 0 defeat by Kansas that dented a season which began with a Big 12 title. They will play in the Big 12 tournament next week and the NCAA tournament afterward as Sabins believes the team can still finish strong — he said the season is not over yet.  The Dominion Post
