- ➤ Today, the 5th annual All In Foster Care Summit will gather advocates at Chestnut Ridge Church in Morgantown with Coffee and Connection at 8:15 a.m. and a main program at 9 a.m. featuring speakers including Andy Cook (Promise 686), Brian Mavis, and Jason Weber as Gov. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ A close to $400,000 fund was raised Monday to help schools buy mobile alert buttons under Alyssa’s Law. Del. Jonathan Pinson joined Morgantown High School’s Make Our Schools Safe (MOSS) chapter to mark a first donation of $48,888, and the Education Department allocated nearly $349,000 for additional safety measures. - ➤ Rev. Kevin Cain's The Source feeding program earned statewide recognition at the Mon Board of Education meeting for serving nearly 600 kids each weekend. The program is now a nominee for the 'Hope for the Future' award with the winner announced this spring. The Dominion Post
- ➤ WVU Foundation has named five incoming students as Foundation Scholars from the Bucklew cohort. They will receive WVU’s highest academic scholarship covering tuition, fees, room + board and a book stipend. The Daily Athenaeum
- ➤ WVU named eight students as 2026 Order of Augusta honorees for academic excellence, leadership and service at its Morgantown campus. The top achievers in the Class of 2026 were recognized for their hard work and commitment. WV News

- ➤ Industry experts, regulators and international delegates gathered at the Morgantown Marriott at Waterfront Place for the 2026 West Virginia Mine Drainage Task Force Symposium, which covers AMD treatment technologies and regulatory updates. The sessions discuss watershed remediation, remote telemetry monitoring, and issues related to utility rates + policies. The Dominion Post

- ➤ Gov. Patrick Morrisey launched Ascend Heroes on May 5 to invite veterans to move to West Virginia by offering a ($12,000) incentive over two years with accelerated payments upon buying a home. Leaders from education and tourism joined the event, and veterans may settle in communities including the Morgantown Area. WVU Today

- ➤ University High softball will battle John Marshall for the OVAC 5A championship Wednesday night in Wheeling after a 7-0 win advanced them to the finals. Meanwhile, the baseball team has won three of its last four games and will host Lincoln, Grafton, and Morgantown in a final homestand. The Dominion Post
- ➤ WVU coach Steve Sabins will face Kansas at Hoglund Ballpark Friday in a three-game series — the Mountaineers, already in the NCAA tournament, aim to secure one of 16 regional host spots while overcoming past pressure. The Dominion Post
