EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Covenant Christian School and Church broke ground on an expansion project to add classrooms for its 170 students and a new food pantry for about 160 families monthly — earth moving is planned later this month with framing expected early June pending fundraising. WDTV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Monongalia County Commission voted to add a digital navigator to help residents with broadband connections. The position, funded for one year with $50,000 from (ARP interest) funds, will start July 1 and be based at the library with outreach at senior centers and public events. MetroNews
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ On Sunday at Kendrick Family Ballpark, WVU beat Kansas State 13 to 6 after Tyrus Hall, Gavin Kelly & Sean Smith hit key eighth inning home runs that completed a three game sweep. The win boosts the Mountaineers' bid for a top Big 12 spot. The Dominion Post
- ➤ Joson Sanon, a 6-foot-5 guard from St. John’s, has committed to West Virginia after an official visit to Morgantown. The Massachusetts native — who played at Arizona State and St. John’s last season with averages near 8 points — is expected to compete for a starting wing spot under coach Ross Hodge. - ➤ University High School senior James Bryner threw a complete-game three-hitter Friday to lead the Hawks to a 4-1 win over Parkersburg South (ERA 1.65) as his strong season continues; the team will face Preston for a 5:30 p.m. contest on Monday. The Dominion Post
