- ➤ Hosted by two-time Grammy Award winner David Mayfield, the final Mountain Stage show will feature blues and roots artist Eric Bibb along with Moira Smiley, The Rhizome Project, Twisted Pine, The McCrary Sisters, and Yasmin Williams, set to begin at 7 p.m. Sunday (May 4) at the Canady Creative Arts Center. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Morgantown High School won its third straight state title at the 2025 West Virginia Academic Showdown on Saturday — emerging as the grand champion in the competition. WV News
- ➤ Morgantown High School student-athletes signed on Wednesday morning to continue their academic and athletic careers at the MHS library on Wilson Avenue — with family, friends, teammates and coaches present. Riley Brabson will play Division I soccer at Mercyhurst, Lucie Hatcher will play basketball at D’Youville, Kylan Blunt will join Kentucky Christian for football, and state volleyball champions Audrey Buck, Giatta Iquinto and Ellie Thornton are headed to Arkansas-Fort Smith, West Virginia State and Waynesburg, respectively. - ➤ The municipal election ended with Jodi Hollingshead, Jenny Selin, and Mark Downs winning council seats—taking office on July 1—to serve until June 30 while 1,900 ballots were cast at a 14% turnout. Voters also rejected proposals that would let the city manager live outside Morgantown and repeal the camping ban—measures that will remain in effect. Morgantown Magazine

- ➤ Science experts say that if you get a poison ivy rash when you are outdoors, you can use plants like jewelweed and plantain as a natural remedy if soap and water are not available. - ➤ Morgantown High captured its fourth consecutive OVAC Big School tennis title on Tuesday after finishing the tournament at Wheeling Park when weather delayed play. Max Chen won the No. 3 boys' singles match 8-1 over Dover’s Jeremy Cappel while Larry Du took the No. 2 match 8-1 over Dover’s Nathan Ricker — both wins helped the team seal a 24 to 22 victory over Dover.
