- ➤ Nearly 1,000 handmade pottery items and small ceramic sculptures made by School of Art and Design students will be available for purchase at the Canady Creative Arts Center—Douglas O. Blaney Lobby from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 3. Funds raised will support student artists, club activities, and research projects including a travel study in China. West Virginia University
- ➤ Main Street Morgantown will transform downtown into an open air gallery on May 10 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.—local artists and makers will display paintings, jewelry, photography, and handcrafted goods on High Street, while participating businesses offer special promotions. The event is the first in a season of themed Arts Walks running through November. West Virginia University

- ➤ WVU student Bentley Kinzer, an exercise physiology major and aspiring dentist, was selected as a 2025 Leadership Fellow by the National Veterans Leadership Foundation—an honor for top military-connected students—he will work with four Military Community Advocates to improve campus support at WVU. - ➤ On April 22, the Sustainable Energy Student Ambassador organization hosted an Earth Day panel called Future of Energy that brought together students from various majors to discuss energy choices and sustainability in West Virginia. - ➤ Morgantown recorded 716 early ballots cast over an eight-day period with 224 ballots on the final Saturday—over 31% of early voters—and early turnout making up just over 5% of registered voters, a daily average that outpaces recent elections. The Dominion Post

- ➤ FSAP will offer Mental Health First Aid training that begins with two hours of self-guided online learning and a virtual instructor-led session from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 6 or June 11. Participants will earn a three-year certification upon completing all required work for a cost of $40 & a discounted rate of $25 for WVU employees. West Virginia University
- ➤ Monongalia EMS said it will launch a whole blood program on May 1 to treat patients with severe blood loss—paramedics and trained fire department members will bring life-saving blood to the scene quickly, especially in rural areas where hospital access takes longer. The Dominion Post
- ➤ Proposed federal work requirements for Medicaid may make it harder for up to 44,000 residents to keep their coverage as they face confusing reporting steps.
