- ➤ A 37-year-old Morgantown man was acquitted of three felony sex charges—after a seven-day trial—in Monongalia County Circuit Court. WV News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ WVU is honoring Sexual Assault Awareness Month by hosting events that educate students and provide confidential support, as the Walking With Survivors event on April 12 connected students with vital resources while a Consent and Ice Cream event will be held on April 25—campus efforts focus on empowering survivors and raising awareness. - ➤ WVU's occupational therapy program is hosting events and activities this April to celebrate National Occupational Therapy Month and provide hands-on learning opportunities for students. - ➤ West Virginia Gov. Patrick Morrisey signed the budget for Fiscal Year 2026 on Friday after the Legislature passed a proposal closely matching his plan to address a $400 million structural gap (which could grow to nearly $600 million if unaddressed). The new budget fully funds Medicaid, senior services and the HOPE scholarship while reserving up to $100 million for road maintenance if a surplus occurs. WDTV

- ➤ Jace Rinehart’s down-the-line RBI double helped lift the No. 24 Mountaineers to a 3-2 win over Cincinnati on Thursday night. He had two hits and two RBIs that kept West Virginia on a 12-game win streak and at the top of the Big 12 while Cincinnati now sits at .500 in conference play. The Dominion Post
- ➤ The No. 24 Mountaineers beat Cincinnati by a score of 6 to 4 on Friday at Kendrick Family Ballpark as Grant Hussey hit a two-run home run and Logan Sauve and Jace Rinehart each hit a solo blast. - ➤ MHS baseball lost by one run to Linsly on Wednesday but won on Friday to move to 11-7 and will play Washington and Huntington today, while its softball team improved to 13-7 after wins against Wheeling Park and Preston. The boys lacrosse team won 21 to 3 over John Marshall and secured a 7 to 0 tennis victory, University girls lacrosse reached 10-0 with a 13 to 4 win over Morgantown, and Trinity Christian baseball ended a five-game losing streak with a 7 to 6 win on Thursday.
