- ➤ A West Virginia University student was charged with attempted first-degree murder after he allegedly stabbed a man on Forest Avenue on April 6, leaving the victim with multiple stab wounds while police reviewed video footage of the incident. WDTV

- ➤ West Virginia Writers’ Workshop will run July 17-20 on the Downtown campus to give writers a chance to improve their craft—prize-winning poet and novelist Joy Priest, the 2020 recipient of the Donald Hall Prize for Poetry, will give a craft talk and lead a writing exercise. - ➤ The WVU Talent and Culture team has shifted the performance review schedule for the 2024 process—allowing supervisors extra time to complete evaluations for classified, non-classified, and selected FE/AP employees. Supervisors must finish evaluations by April 23, 11:59 p.m.—analytic reports will be reviewed from April 28 to April 30, final ratings authorized by May 5, and employee review meetings held from May 7 to May 23. - ➤ WVU Libraries is announcing that it will continue transformative agreement deals which reduce or cover Article Processing Charges for faculty open access publications. - ➤ American Rivers listed the Gauley River as one of the most endangered because mining on its Cherry River — run by South Fork Coal Company on 3,600 acres in Greenbrier and Pocahontas counties — has released sediment and toxic metals that harm local wildlife and water activities. - ➤ The WVU Office of Sustainability will launch Earth Week on Monday, April 21 with a free 'Make It, Take It' seed planting kit giveaway at the Mountainlair Commons.
