- ➤ WVU student Tyler Bollhorst faced a felony charge for an alleged stabbing in front of 385 Forest Ave on April 6—officers found the victim with multiple stab wounds at Ruby Memorial Hospital—and he was arraigned with a $125,000 bond. The Daily Athenaeum

- ➤ Faculty, staff, students and community members are invited to the free seventh annual Focus Forward conference hosted by the West Virginia Public Education Collaborative and Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation. The event will be held Tuesday, April 22 at the Morgantown Marriott at Waterfront Place and will feature a networking breakfast from 8 to 9 a.m., a full-day program led by top national, state and local leaders and an optional reception from 4:30 to 6 p.m. West Virginia University

- ➤ Two weeks ago, almost all workers at NIOSH—nearly 250 employees—received email notifications of their layoffs as part of sweeping federal cuts by the Department of Health and Human Services. She became the 11th Mountaineer to be drafted and finished her career with 2,016 points plus set a program record as the first player with 2,000+ points and 300+ rebounds, steals and assists. - ➤ Head coach Rich Rodriguez has opened the final transfer portal window to finalize fall rosters as he works to add players that will boost team depth and fill key positions including the offensive line, defense and wide receivers—steps that will increase competition for the upcoming season. - ➤ West Virginia University junior catcher Logan Sauve was named Big 12 Baseball Player of the Week after he hit .556 with two home runs, four RBI and three runs in two games against Houston. - ➤ Morgantown High School senior Brady Savage became the first athlete to earn first-team honors in both football and basketball during the 2024-2025 season—he was named in December for football and in March for basketball.
