  • RDVIC hosted its 52nd annual Walking with Survivors event Saturday at the Morgantown Farmers Market. Participants walked a mile loop downtown—holding signs and sharing resources to support survivors during Sexual Assault Awareness Month.  The Daily Athenaeum
  • Monongalia County has become the first in West Virginia to launch the CarePortal platform—an online tool that connects churches, nonprofits, and private citizens with families in crisis. The project, started in 2023 and supported by the Department of Human Services, will expand to Kingwood on May 13—providing extra help for local families in need.  MetroNews

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A January crash on I-68 near Morgantown that killed a Pennsylvania man raised concerns when investigators found that driver Sukhjinder Singh needed an interpreter and was accused of hitting another trucker on the Cheat Lake bridge—American Truckers United said non-English speaking drivers pose a growing national risk—calling for an executive order to enforce federal guidelines.  MetroNews

  • Jack Kartsonas pitched seven scoreless innings as No. 23 WVU swept Houston in a three-game series at Schroeder Park, extending its 10-game winning streak. The Mountaineers will face Marshall at 6 p.m. Tuesday.  The Dominion Post
  • West Virginia secured guard Honor Huff from Chattanooga to fill a key need on the team. Huff averaged 15.2 points and 2.3 assists last season and narrowed his options to West Virginia, St. John's, Iowa, Pittsburgh and Vanderbilt—making him the program’s first true guard commitment this off-season.  The Dominion Post
