- ➤ Stephanie Hunt—a small business owner and co-chair of the Greenmont Neighborhood Association—is running for the 6th Ward seat on city council to cut red tape in permits and update zoning for small businesses and affordable housing. She said her campaign focuses on collaboration and delivering real change if voters choose her on April 29. The Dominion Post
- ➤ State lawmakers approved changes to House Bill 3297 that require WVU to open the Washington Center for Civics, Culture and Statesmanship to boost civics education focused on classical western history and culture. Gov. Patrick Morrisey has 15 days to sign or veto the proposal + if he does not act, it will become law by default. West Virginia Public Broadcasting
- ➤ Mark Downs, a lifelong Morgantown resident and small business owner, is running for the City Council’s 6th Ward seat on April 29 and will focus on neighborhood improvements, safety and easing business regulations. He said his campaign will tackle declining city revenue and restrictive zoning rules that hinder local small business growth. The Dominion Post

- ➤ On Friday night, the 23rd-ranked WVU baseball team defeated Houston 9-2 at Schroeder Park, with Chase Swain’s triple driving in three runs (moving the team into a three-way tie for the Big 12 lead with Kansas and TCU) and extending their eight-game winning streak (improving their record to 28-4 overall). - ➤ University High School’s baseball team split a Friday series against two top-five teams — they won 6-5 over Spring Valley then lost 6-4 to Hurricane. They will face George Washington on Saturday — and host Wheeling Park on Monday at 5 p.m. The Dominion Post
- ➤ Lucas Shinn threw a complete game three-hitter and led the Mohigans to a 3 to 0 win over Jefferson on Saturday at Dale Miller Field—he struck out key batters and used smart small ball in the third inning to score the go-ahead run. MetroNews
- ➤ West Virginia redshirt senior wide receiver Jaden Bray missed most of last season due to a lower leg injury—he is now focused on staying healthy and perfecting his routes as he adjusts to head coach Rich Rodriguez’s system. Quinerly will be selected in the 2025 WNBA Draft set for 7:30 p.m. Monday—she is projected to be picked around 20 to 22 overall and coach Mark Kellogg said her quick speed and strong defense as a point guard will help her overcome challenges related to her smaller size.
