CULTURE NEWS

  • Morgantown dancer Ava Bibbee was selected to represent the United States at the 2026 Dance World Cup in Dublin, Ireland. She will join international competitors later this year in a global showcase.  WV News
  • The Ruby Amphitheater announced a 2026 Summer Concert Series with 12 free Friday concerts starting June 5 at Hazel Ruby McQuain Park; the series will feature bands like Almost Queen, Leftover Salmon and Hanson, and will offer food & beverage vendors plus free face painting.  WDTV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • John M. Barry, a best-selling author and historian, will share his insights on science and storytelling during a Zoom event Monday, April 6 from 7-8 p.m. Sponsored by local academic centers (Eberly College, School of Public Health, and Reed School of Media), the event lets attendees register to submit questions.  West Virginia University
  • WVU will host the eighth annual Research Week from Monday, Apr. 6 through Saturday, Apr. 11 to celebrate its R1 research status. The event will include discussions on science storytelling, student exhibits and a graduate thesis competition.  West Virginia University
  • Chambers College hosted a recording of the Dakota Live! Podcast on Wednesday, Apr. 1 at WVU where students met institutional investors who manage billions in capital. The panel featured executives (Josh Hall, Jim Bethea, Ann Marie Hibbert, Brant Hammer, Luke George).  West Virginia University
  • Four WVU faculty members, including Cody Hood, Jignesh Solanki, Erin Brock Carlson + Muzibur Rahman, are honored with $5,000 awards for outstanding teaching; they will be recognized at a reception at Blaney House in April.  West Virginia University
  • Enrollment Management has partnered with Human Capital Education to launch a new Slate admissions platform that will replace Salesforce before July 1. The system will streamline processes and target key functions for undergraduate and graduate recruitment with training sessions scheduled in April.  West Virginia University
  • Students from WVU EcoCAR have built on four years of innovation by stripping down a Cadillac + reimagining its design in a hands-on electric vehicle demonstration in Morgantown.  WV News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Patrick Morrisey signed House Bill 4425 Tuesday to return oversight of student-athlete transfers to the WV Secondary School Activities Commission, allowing first- and second-year students to gain immediate eligibility if transfers are completed by Sept. 1.  The Dominion Post

SPORTS NEWS

  • The University High baseball team lost to visiting Linsly 9-8 on Tuesday at Shilling Field after a controversial seventh inning play (a double ruled foul) influenced the final score. The team now aims to break a four-game losing streak in a weekend tournament at Marshall University.  The Dominion Post
  • WVU baseball beat Arizona 7+4 in a nonconference game Tuesday night at Hi Corbett Field in Tucson to close an Arizona road trip and mark their 31st season with at least 20 wins. The Mountaineers return home to face UCF Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Kendrick Family Ballpark.  The Dominion Post
