ECONOMY NEWS

  • On April 1, 2025, Gordon Gee explained how WVU helped boost economic growth in the state by advancing innovation and workforce development—his remarks focused on the university’s role in creating jobs and fostering new business opportunities.  West Virginia University

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Joshua Meadows (award for Distinguished Beginning Services) and Lori Hostuttler (award for Distinguished Extended State Service) have been recognized for their service at WVU. They will be honored at a faculty and staff awards reception at Blaney House on April 16.  West Virginia University
  • The WVU Planning, Design, Construction and Scheduling team is introducing new interactive building maps for Downtown, Evansdale and Health Sciences campus areas to help students, faculty and staff navigate easily. The maps show campus locations, room numbers and floor levels, room use classification and department occupancy and are updated periodically though they may not reflect recent changes.  West Virginia University
  • Parking will be limited at the Coliseum on Saturday, April 5 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. as hundreds of prospective students and families visit the University for the Decide WVU open house. They will attend campus tours, information sessions, and interactive displays — all scheduled throughout the day — to explore their enrollment options.  West Virginia University

HEALTH NEWS

  • FSAP offers Mental Health First Aid training — starting with two hours of self-guided online learning before a virtual instructor-led session from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on either May 6th or June 11th. Participants will learn crisis intervention techniques, complete brief post-work to earn a three-year certification, and pay $40 per person with a discounted rate of $25 for WVU employees.  West Virginia University

SPORTS NEWS

  • After its Tuesday game at Ohio State, West Virginia University baseball is set to host Pitt today at Kendrick Family Ballpark in the Backyard Brawl — the game starts at 6:30 p.m. and airs on ESPN+.  West Virginia University
  • The West Virginia University rowing team opened its spring season over the past weekend—four boats raced in the Sarasota 2k in Florida while two boats raced against Robert Morris in Pittsburgh. Coach Jimmy King said the crew learned from the regatta and will use those lessons as they prepare for the George Washington Invitational on April 12-13 at the Thompson Boat Center.  West Virginia University
  • Morgantown, W.Va. — Joy Naukot broke West Virginia’s 10,000-meter record at the Raleigh Relays on March 28 — she ran the race in 32:21.84 and was named Student-Athlete of the Week, now ranking first in the Big 12 and Mid-Atlantic Region and second nationally.  West Virginia University
