  • Award-winning chef Aarón Sánchez is visiting Adobo Cantina inside Café Evansdale for lunch today—he invites the WVU community to meet him and try a menu featuring jalapeno brisket, fajita chicken, tomato rice and charro beans, and tres leches cake.  West Virginia University

CRIME NEWS

  • Federal authorities identified a man as the leader of a multi-state drug ring that targeted Morgantown — he was sentenced to over 15 years in prison.  WV News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Braden Adkins will pass the rifle and Mountaineer mascot roles to Cade Kincaid during a ceremony Friday, April 4 — a reception will be held at 5 p.m. at Mountainlair, Vandalia Lounge with a program at 6 p.m. at Gluck Theatre. Kincaid will begin his term at the Gold-Blue Spring Showcase on Saturday, April 5.  West Virginia University

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Division of Talent and Culture is hosting one-hour Employee Experience Focus Groups in April and May to let WVU faculty and staff share their thoughts on recognition, growth opportunities, and comfort with supervisor feedback. Each employee will register via email from their Strategic HR Partner and the anonymous feedback—analyzed by college and University leaders—will help shape workplace improvements.  West Virginia University
  • West Virginia’s two teachers unions voted last weekend in Charleston to merge into a single organization called Education West Virginia—union leaders said the move will strengthen their voice in defending public education. The new group will officially launch on Sept. 1 and be led jointly by Kristie Skidmore and Dale Lee.  MetroNews
  • WVU Libraries is offering research workshops that cover scholarly publishing, submitting theses or dissertations, systemic reviews, R, RStudio, and Python. The sessions are planned to strengthen research and data management skills for students and staff — a new opportunity at WVU Libraries in Morgantown.  West Virginia University

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Saturday, the West Virginia baseball team overcame an eight-run deficit to win 19—16 at Miller Park with a season-high 20 hits led by senior Kyle West. They now improve to 22—4 in the Big 12 and will play Ohio State today at 6 p.m.—then host Pitt on Wednesday in the Backyard Brawl.  West Virginia University
  • Over the weekend, MHS baseball ended 3-3 with a 13-5 win and two one-run losses while the softball team fell to 5-5, the boys lacrosse team improved to 4-0, the girls lacrosse team won 13-8, the girls tennis team recorded two 7-0 shutouts, and both track teams snagged titles at the Paul Arbogast Invitational — marking a busy local sports weekend. Today, teams will face more matchups with scheduled contests against John Marshall, University, North Hills and others over the upcoming days.  The Dominion Post
