EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The three-year-old performance-based funding model for colleges is now fully funded, according to Higher Education Chancellor Sarah Armstrong Tucker. Institutions are reviewing programs to meet criteria tied to on-time student progression and job retention in IT, manufacturing and healthcare. MetroNews
- ➤ Preston County High School in Kingwood announced Sunday that a student died; counselors (providing support) remain onsite as details about the cause have not been released. The Dominion Post
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Sean Smith hit his fourth home run on Sunday night to give WVU a 9-2 win over Arizona State in Arizona. WVU (19-5) improved its record while Arizona State (20-8) dropped in the series that kept the Mountaineers atop the Big 12. The Dominion Post
- ➤ WVU beat Arizona State 13-7 Saturday night after a crucial second inning lifted the Mountaineers to 18-5 on the season. They will face a rubber match Sunday on ESPN2 with Chansen Cole starting (expecting another strong pitching effort). The Dominion Post
- ➤ WVU head coach Rich Rodriguez said the team will hold a roster draft on April 7 to build a depth chart during the final three weeks of spring practice.
