BUSINESS NEWS

  • Google announced it bought 1700 acres on both sides of Route 62 for a planned data center in Buffalo. Local leaders say the tech giant will fund all needed infrastructure upgrades (avoiding added costs for residents) as it moves through essential planning steps.  MetroNews

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Morgantown Art Bar announced on Wednesday that it will close after April & is hosting final events at its 268 High St. venue. The beloved bar has served local students & musicians and invites the community to celebrate one last time.  The Daily Athenaeum
  • WVU’s studio was used as a filming location for Netflix Top 10 movie The Bad Guardian last February. Director Joe Webb, who appears in the film, and Reed School of Media students helped create a professional set — staff praised its clean, organized work — that brought Hollywood to campus.  West Virginia University
  • On April 1, WVU’s Bluegrass and Old-Time Bands will work with Grammy-winning native Tim O’Brien during a master class before joining him for a 7:30 p.m. concert at the Gladys G.   • The EcoCAR team will host a spring vehicle demonstration in the Engineering Sciences Building, Room G20 from 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday (March 31) to showcase their electric vehicle technology, featuring a Cadillac LYRIQ and a new emergency detection system for deaf and hard of hearing drivers.  West Virginia University

  • PEIA is hosting statewide open enrollment fairs from April 6 to April 20 for employee benefits for the 2027 plan year — a virtual event follows on April 21.   • U.S. Census Bureau estimates show that communities in North Central West Virginia remain steady even as the statewide population declines. The report highlights regional differences that point to local resilience.  WV News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Vandalia Health will end obstetrics delivery services at Mon Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston on May 1 — citing recruitment challenges. The hospital will keep offering gynecological, prenatal, and postpartum care while guiding patients to nearby obstetric care options.  MetroNews
  • West Virginia University is leading an 18‑month data-driven review to guide allocation of nearly three-quarters of the state's opioid settlement funds, with partners including its Health Affairs Institute and the West Virginia First Foundation — a project that will develop an interactive dashboard for transparent funding decisions.  WVU Today
