ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ I-79 North was closed at the I-68 interchange in Monongalia County Wednesday morning due to an oil spill—state police and the highways division responded after it was reported at 9:03 a.m. and by 9:30 a.m. all lanes were closed with drivers directed onto I-68 and advised to take Exit 1 to rejoin I-79 North. - ➤ Phase 1 construction on the Mountaineer Marching Band's new practice facility has begun, with work on a new artificial turf field + stadium lighting designed for easy parking and access to the PRT. Fundraising for Phase 2, which will add a storage building and covered pavilion, continues today as a dedicated fan matches the first $50,000 raised. West Virginia University
- ➤ The WVU Institute for Community and Rural Health and the West Virginia Area Health Education Centers are accepting applications for the WV AHEC Rural Community Health Scholars program, with early admission due by May 19. The two-year program for 75 top health professions students interested in rural care begins Sept. 1 and offers supplemental training in clinical, community, and interprofessional settings—helping shape future local health services.
