ECONOMY NEWS

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Marion County Schools Superintendent Donna Heston said adding Mannington Middle School to the 2025 Endangered Properties List will boost community awareness and support needed repairs. The historic building—originally Mannington High School—has a working bell tower and rich local design, while parents and school leaders have set future events to raise funds for its refurbishment.  MetroNews

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Morgantown firefighters expressed strong concerns about a proposed charter change that would let the city manager live outside the city. Residents will vote next month on the change after a written challenge led to a 4—3 city council vote that approved the proposal.  MetroNews

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Sunday, the 24th-ranked WVU baseball team lost 11-4 to Arizona at Kendrick Family Ballpark, and Logan Sauve did not play while Sam White left with his right arm in a sling after celebrating a home run—raising concerns about his availability. Head coach Steve Sabins said it is unclear if White will need surgery—adding uncertainty as the team prepares to play Marshall at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.  The Dominion Post
  • North Carolina and West Virginia will play in the NCAA second round game today at 7 p.m. at Carmichael Arena in Chapel Hill—North Carolina will rely on its size and guard strength while West Virginia uses chaotic full-court pressure to create challenges.  The Dominion Post
  • West Virginia’s men’s basketball team will have its fourth head coach as it prepares to face North Carolina at 7 p.m. Monday—J.J. Quinerly from the women’s program said she understands the players’ confusion over coaching changes after several teammates entered the transfer portal.  The Dominion Post
