BUSINESS NEWS

  • The first-of-its-kind restaurant featuring a Name, Image, and Likeness sports bar focused on WVU athletics will open its second location in Bridgeport this summer. The venue at Charles Pointe will offer pub fare, local drinks including Country Roads Lager and host WVU watch parties.  WDTV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Morgantown residents enjoyed the 44th annual Irish Spring Festival on Mar. 16 that celebrated Irish culture with music, dancing and traditional food. The event served as a lively preview for upcoming St. Patrick’s Day festivities.  WDTV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Cindi Roth announced her retirement from the WVU Foundation this fall after nearly 13 years of transformative leadership that boosted fundraising and asset growth. The Board will launch a nationwide search for her successor to continue supporting WVU’s mission.  WVU Today

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The West Virginia Water Research Institute and Ascend WV are hosting the annual Monongahela River Sweep on April 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hazel Ruby McQuain Park, where volunteers can clean up trails, riverbanks and the river to earn volunteer hours.  West Virginia University

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Smithtown Road (Monongalia County Route 73) will close 24 hours a day from Wednesday through April 1 at milepost 8.76 for slip repair and pipe replacement, which may affect local travel.  WV News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Health Right will close its downtown facility on April 8 to begin moving to its new location on Scott Ave on April 13–15 and will reopen for limited services on April 21. The move, following 42 years in the downtown building, ensures continued patient care during the transition.  The Dominion Post
  • The West Virginia Poison Center launches its Little Hands, Big Curiosities campaign to protect children from poison exposure, hosting outreach events and sharing social media safety tips through Friday, Mar. 20. Families and caregivers can learn proper storage techniques to reduce accidental poisonings at home.  West Virginia University

SPORTS NEWS

  • The WVSSAC Boys Basketball State Tournament, featuring last year’s champions, kicks off today for Class AA at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center and continues with Class AAA and AAAA games on March 18 and 19.   • The WVU Rifle Program won its 21st National Championship in Columbus, beating TCU with a record-setting air rifle score of 2395 and an aggregate score of 4748; the win marks its second straight title after overcoming a three-point deficit.  MetroNews
  • WVU women’s basketball, seeded fourth and Big 12 champion, will host the 13th-seeded Miami (OH) RedHawks at Hope Gas Coliseum Saturday in a first-round NCAA tournament game. Tip-off time is to be determined.  WDTV
