GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Patrick Morrisey presented the West Virginia Distinguished Service Medal posthumously to U.S. Army Spc Sarah Diane Beckstrom in Charleston today. The ceremony honored her service with the West Virginia Army National Guard after she was fatally wounded in Washington, D.C. and included her family and local Guard members. WDTV
- ➤ State legislators passed House Bill 5691 on Saturday, directing $2.9 million from JUUL settlement funds to support youth tobacco prevention and cessation programs. The move aims to reduce high smoking rates & safeguard community health. WDTV
- ➤ Today, Governor Patrick Morrisey launched the WorkFIRST Taskforce to reshape job training and link benefits with fresh job opportunities. Christine Davies, deputy secretary for economic development with 25 years experience, will lead the taskforce as part of his Backyard Brawl (program). WDTV
