- ➤ Josh Poling’s Mountain Sky Drones uses a state-of-the-art drone — equipped with thermal imaging — to reunite lost pets such as a blind lab from Braxton County. Operating in Morgantown and statewide, he charges around $300 if his services are needed. Morgantown Magazine
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Engage WVU Giving Circle is accepting student and faculty grant applications for projects that enhance education and support local students – applications are due by April 25. The program offers one-to-three year grants up to $5,000 and one-year project grants up to $2,500, excluding tuition and living expenses. West Virginia University
- ➤ A new resource guide offers Morgantown families a cheat sheet for day care, preschool, and before- and after-school care with details on wait lists and tuition subsidies (including those from Child Care Resource Center). - ➤ WVU's FirstGen Initiatives launched a Fall 2025 mentorship program using a $22,500 WVHEPC grant that pairs up to 40 first-generation students with faculty and student ambassadors plus provides support both in class and through workshops for high school educators. West Virginia University
- ➤ West Virginia University announced Mark Paris as the new dean of WVU Libraries and Press, and he will begin his role on April 27. He most recently led research modernization at Brandeis and plans to boost library services for students and faculty. WVU Today
- ➤ Monongalia County Board of Education met today to review the excess levy election, approve the 2026–27 school calendar, and advance University High's new athletics project + set plans for future improvements. WV News

- ➤ The Center for Excellence in Disabilities and the Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute will host webinars for Traumatic Brain Injury Awareness Day on March 27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. These sessions will offer practical insights for health care professionals + educators + caregivers. - ➤ Morgantown's girls basketball teams are playing in the WVSSAC state tournament today at the Charleston Coliseum with MHS starting at 9:30 a.m. against Cabell Midland and University High meeting Parkersburg at 1:00 p.m. The Dominion Post
- ➤ WVU true freshman Matt Sieg is showing his versatility in spring practice by playing safety and offense while also practicing as a kick-returner under coaches Rodriguez and Alley; he is learning multiple roles and could see an expanded role this season. The Dominion Post
