EDUCATION NEWS

  • A revised school calendar bill championed by Senate Education Committee Chairwoman Amy Grady was recommended for passage by the House Education Committee on Friday & will be considered by the full House later this week.  WV News

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Sunday, the Mountaineers beat TCU 62-53 in the Big 12 tournament, earning home-court advantage in the NCAA first two rounds. MVP Jordan Harrison (21 points) led the win and the tournament bracket will be released on Sunday, Mar. 15.  WDTV
  • On Sunday, WVU women beat TCU 62-53 at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City to win the Big 12 tournament; the win earned the Mountaineers an automatic NCAA bid and may boost them to a No. 4 seed for a regional.  The Dominion Post
  • Yesterday, West Virginia baseball shortstop Matt Ineich had six RBIs to spark a 16-1 series win over Columbia at the ballpark + WVU improved to 10-3 and will host Maryland Tuesday at 2 p.m.  The Dominion Post
  • Reese Allen, a Harrison County senior, is set to become the 72nd Mountaineer mascot. He will receive the rifle from outgoing mascot Cade Kincaid on April 17 at 6 p.m. in the Mountainlair at Gluck Theatre—preceded by a public reception at Vandalia Lounge at 5 p.m.  MetroNews
