- ➤ The Native American Studies Program presents a Human Rights Film Series on the criminal justice system with screenings and panel discussions at Ming Hsieh Hall, Room G21. 'Burden of Innocence' will be shown tomorrow (Feb. 25, 6-8 p.m.) and 'College Behind Bars' on March 4 (6-8 p.m.). West Virginia University
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ A team from WVU is a finalist for a $160 million NSF award that may drive over $1 billion in regional economic growth. The finalist status was announced Monday and could boost local energy research and job opportunities in Morgantown. West Virginia University
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ WVU Libraries asks students to share their views on resources that support academic success. Students can complete a 20-minute survey that closes March 13 (responses will guide future library services). West Virginia University
- ➤ Monongalia EMS will run a free Citizens Academy every Tuesday in April from 6-9 p.m. to give residents hands-on training in emergency services, including CPR certification & ride-along opportunities while enrollment remains limited to 20 people. WDTV
- ➤ Subhasish Mandal, a physics and astronomy assistant professor, received the 2026 Cottrell Scholars Award for his study of quantum materials to improve quantum computers & to bring more science classes to local high school and college students. He will use the $120K prize to grow his research and outreach. West Virginia University
- ➤ WVU faculty and staff on the front lines are invited to join the Frontline Professionals meeting from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, March 12 at Evansdale Crossing (former Visitors Center theatre space on the third floor), where speakers will update on student success and Strategic Compass progress. - ➤ Students seeking housing for the upcoming lease year can meet local landlords and explore options at the WVU Housing Fair on Wednesday, Feb. 25, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Mountainlair Ballrooms; attendees may also enter a drawing for a one-year parking permit. West Virginia University
- ➤ West Virginia University’s 9th Day of Giving will take place on March 25, focused on unrestricted scholarships to support students (as explained by President Benson). The annual 24-hour fundraiser invites alumni and friends to help fuel future Mountaineers. WDTV

- ➤ WVU Medicine Golisano Children's Hospital hosted its 22nd annual gala today (in Morgantown) where 1,300 guests and more than 80 sponsors gathered, and Carter Casey was introduced as West Virginia’s 2026 Children’s Miracle Network Champion Child. WDTV

- ➤ WVU men’s basketball will play Oklahoma State at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater at 7 p.m. today. Both teams have split past matchups (each has won 13 games) as they try to boost their NCAA hopes. The Dominion Post
