- ➤ WVU professors are adjusting their curriculum to limit AI-driven academic dishonesty by shifting to more in-class assignments + raising the emphasis on critical thinking. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Thursday, the West Virginia House of Delegates approved a 3% pay raise for teachers, school personnel, and state troopers in Charleston — a decision aimed at supporting public servants across the state. WV News
- ➤ West Virginia now can manage coal leases on federal lands after Gov. Patrick Morrisey & Interior Secretary Doug Burgum amended the cooperative agreement on Wednesday, letting WVDEP handle permitting and enforcement while federal oversight continues for about 7.4% of state lands. - ➤ A panel of federal appellate judges will visit WVU Law on Wednesday, Feb. 25 to hear arguments and answer questions from faculty, staff, and students (security screening starts at 7:30 a.m. and arguments at 9:30 a.m.). West Virginia University

- ➤ Last Wednesday, the Morgantown Board of Zoning Appeals granted variance relief for a 104-unit townhome development near the municipal airport that received conditional planning approval last week — the project by ARJ LLC includes road widening and sidewalk construction. The Dominion Post

- ➤ Four WVU students dressed in buckskins and a coonskin cap are competing in a cheer-off contest to become the state’s 72nd Mountaineer mascot at the coliseum. The selection committee will announce the winner next Saturday during the Men’s Basketball game against BYU. WDTV
- ➤ Matthew Graveline had an impressive debut for WVU baseball with five hits, seven RBIs and two homers in the season opener against Georgia Southern (teammates nicknamed him Gravy Train). The Mountaineers will face Liberty in a three-game series starting today at 4:00 p.m. on ESPN. The Dominion Post
- ➤ WVU baseball rescheduled its home opener to Feb. 25 against Ohio, as cold weather canceled the Feb. 24 game against Canisius; fans with tickets can use them for the new game or swap them for another home game. The Dominion Post
