- ➤ Morgantown Forward plans to revitalize Stanley’s Spot Dog Park along Deckers Creek Trail — the city’s first canine park — with a new sculpture and mural, and a disco-themed fundraiser is scheduled for Feb. 27 at 123 Pleasant Street. The Dominion Post

- ➤ Main Street Morgantown, the Public Library, and the Aull Center for History have partnered to present an exhibit celebrating Black entrepreneurs from the 19th and 20th centuries — featuring figures like John Hunt and Eddie Dooms. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The House passed the Small Business Growth Act by an 87-3 vote Friday — the bill will now return to the Senate for review. It will offer capital to small businesses that must employ at least 60% local workers. MetroNews
- ➤ West Virginia lawmakers introduced House Bill 5481 to ban ultra-processed foods from school meals and require the Department of Education to create lists of approved & non-compliant foods. The measure follows a food dye ban in schools that went into effect in Aug. 2025. WDTV
- ➤ Governor Morrisey unveiled the Sentry system, a three-year pilot that will use more sensors (rain gauges, soil saturation sensors, and wind data) and AI-driven modeling to forecast flood risk up to six hours ahead at seven flood-prone sites statewide. MetroNews
- ➤ Sen. Shelley Moore Capito announced more than $38 million in federal funding to boost WVU projects (including Weirton Medical Center) and allied health facilities. The funds will help finance essential upgrades and community services. WV News

- ➤ The Planning Commission approved plans for 104 three-bedroom townhomes at the corner of Hartman Run Road and Everlasting Lane near the municipal airport + plans include widening the lane and building a sidewalk.
