  • U92 is running the 2026 'Pledge Your Love to the Moose' drive where listeners can donate cash, crypto + checks to keep the station on air. The fundraiser, which kicked off yesterday and runs until 11:59 a.m. Saturday, supports independent radio programming and nurtures future broadcasters.  West Virginia University

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Dr. Tom Arkle (a retired orthodontist and 1978 WVU graduate) donated $1.4M to the School of Dentistry to boost future postgraduate education today. His gift is expected to expand training opportunities for dental residents.  WV News
  • Professor David Rabban from the University of Texas at Austin will deliver a lecture on the First Amendment right of academic freedom at the College of Law on Feb. 26 from noon to 1 p.m. via livestream & interested attendees should RSVP by Feb. 20.  West Virginia University
  • The University will launch a national search for its next vice president for Research on April 1 to boost its research output and achieve AAU membership, while interim VP Ming Lei will resume his role at the Health Sciences Center.  West Virginia University
  • WVU and Marshall ended their historic rivalry by launching the Universities United initiative, which secured over $51 million for state projects, created 270 jobs, and expanded tuition assistance for students. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth confirmed that National Guard members Sarah Beckstrom (Army) and Andrew Wolfe (Air Force) will receive the Purple Heart soon. The award honors their service and commitment to our state.  WV News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Local community members can register for a virtual Mental Health First Aid training on March 6 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Participants need to complete two hours of online learning beforehand and register by Feb. 25 as seats are limited.  West Virginia University

  • WVU guard Gia Cooke — a former Houston player — now leads the Mountaineers as they race for a Big 12 title in a virtual tie with Baylor; the team will face TCU on Feb. 15.  The Dominion Post
